This is my first post here. I’m posting in English because I don’t understand German — I hope that’s okay.
I own a 2002 Renault Twingo with the D7F 702 engine. In early August, I had the injectors replaced because the old ones made a strange noise under heavy load. Right after the replacement, the car ran rough and smelled strongly of gasoline. The workshop told me this was normal, so I waited — but the over‑fuelling was very noticeable: black smoke from the exhaust at idle.
Using an OBD‑II reader, I checked fuel trims: STFT was pegged at −99, and LTFT was 0. I checked the replacement injectors, and they’re the same type as the originals (just new), which suggests the old injectors were worn.
A DTC scan showed a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor). I bought a new throttle body (Magneti Marelli) and fitted it. The car improved slightly, but still smelled of gasoline and produced exhaust nasty smoke. I then replaced the upstream O2 sensor — difficult because of its location, but I managed it. Despite that, the engine still runs rich. Inspecting the exhaust, I found large lumps of black soot and shiny fragments — the catalytic converter has melted and is ruined.
I’ve reset the ECU several times with both Autel and Renolink; resets made things worse. My TA (TÜV) test is on 10 September, and the car certainly won’t pass emissions in this condition. I plan to ask the workshop to purchase a replacement catalytic converter, and I’m considering refitting the old injectors.
