Hello and welcome Michael 
I would recommend to dissamble the roof. It's easy work: remove the inner ceiling pieces (front, sides, back). Then you can remove the screws of the roof and lift it off. Theres no glue / sealing paste. Afterwards just place the roof back in, tighten the screws (2,5nm torque if I remember it right, so be really carefull) and thats it.
