Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 04.07.2020 Hi, How can I fit a Swag plastic boot on this kind of shaft which is wide at the end? RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - Broadcasttechniker - 04.07.2020 Yes and Yes. https://www.twingotuningforum.de/thread-35652-page-2.html https://www.twingotuningforum.de/thread-40281-post-8776921.html#pid8776921 RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 04.07.2020 Thanks, but I couldn't find an answer in the links you gave. Are you saying this very hard plastic boot can stretch over this wide end of this shaft? It looks impossible to stretch it, it's not flexible. I ordered a cone from eBay which still hasn't arrived. But I thought I will get a rubber boot and I got this plastic boot. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - handyfranky - 04.07.2020 Once more #7 https://www.twingotuningforum.de/thread-40281-post-8776921.html#pid8776921 RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 04.07.2020 I have this boot: https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en/article/febi/10355 I can't stretch or compress it like you show. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - handyfranky - 04.07.2020 You need Neopren Material only that is strechable RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - Broadcasttechniker - 04.07.2020 More than 40years ago I had the same problem. I disassembled the inner joint, took off the tripode and took off the inner boot. Then i replaced the outer boot, then the inner boot, after that the tripode. Do not forget to put grease into both joints, fix the boots and thats it. What do you think where the photos came from? I took them myself. If there is a torque damper on the shaft is has to come off too. In this case i would buy either a superelastic boot or a completely new driveshaft. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 04.07.2020 That's what I was thinking to do. I don't think there is other way. The problem is that the inner boot has a bearing that they say you need to remove with a press. I don't have a press. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 05.07.2020 Seems like all aftermarket boots are thermoplastic. Anyone knows a model which is neoprene? Or I will have to buy a new shaft? RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - Broadcasttechniker - 05.07.2020 Handyfranky bought one. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - handyfranky - 05.07.2020 From Spidan is my Model RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 05.07.2020 Thanks, do you know the exact model maybe? The shaft should have 31mm diameter and the joint 86mm diameter and 110mm distance between grooves. I guess you bought the universal Spidan 190972 which is 102mm height 24mm small inner diameter and 84mm large inner diameter. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - handyfranky - 06.07.2020 Thats universal, maybe it helps https://www.ebay.de/itm/Universal-Stretch-Achsmanschetten-Doppelpack-Komplett-incl-Montagekegel-1/221821528960 RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? - ronenfe - 08.07.2020 How hard is it to remove the joint? I pried one side of the star with a screw driver, but the joint doesn't come off. Do I need to tap it really hard? My wise are not strong enough for this I think. RE: Is it even possible to replace a cv boot on this type of shaft? Was willst du sonst machen? Wenn du die Triopode zerstörst (Dellen in den Zapfen z.B.) dann musst du sowieso komplett erneuern. |
