With the D4F an D7F open circuit is -40 degrees.
Short circiuit should be something above 120 degrees or so, I didn't test this.
All the old CLIPs that you can buy are clones.
I don't know whether there are good ones.
Usually, if they work, they work fine.

I don't think so. The less resistance the higher the temperature. I checked the manual.

So it works, that's o.K.
What more do you expect?
Whatever it is, you won't get it.
There is no better version.
You should install a screen recoder.
With this you hands are free and there is no shaking.

To connect, the ignition has to be on and stay on exept für 2 seconds if you want to stop the motor.

It was indeed a bad engine coolant temperature, after replacing it with new, car starts great.
