Finnish Twingo
#1
Hi all!

Sorry but ich spreche nicht Deutch!

I hope that its ok for me to write to you in English Smile

The story is that I have been a member of a Finnish Renault car club since 2004. Now I have been the chairman of the club for two years, and I have regretted that I have been using a Peugeot (307 -01 2.0) and a VW Beetle (-95 Typ-1, Mexican Import) as a daily driver and no Renault! As a trackday project I've had a R5 -89 with F7P 1.8 16v engine, but I wanted my daily driver to be Renault as well.

Well, my girlfriends dad had a Twingo and I knew that he was thinking about selling it. We came to a deal and I bought it from him for 300e, with new studded winter tyres. Good price I recon Wink

Only things I had to do for the MOT was changing the register plate bulb and fix a small hole on the sill.

The main idea is to make a Funny and Great looking car with as little money as possible. So far, EVERYTHING has costed me (including purchase price) less than 1400€ in total.

This is how I got the car:

With my friends E39 540i

[Bild: 2013-01-31%2013.41.26.jpg?img=small]

Then I wanted to make it look more... fun Wink

First purchase, TA-Technix Coilovers.

[Bild: 2013-02-18%2014.11.48.jpg?img=small]

Putting them in straight away:

[Bild: 2013-02-19%2014.29.08.jpg?img=small]

This is how it looked with everything as low as possible:

[Bild: 2013-02-19%2015.06.37.jpg?img=small]

[Bild: 2013-02-19%2015.07.01.jpg?img=small]

Also, this "small Rolling Eyes" dent was part of the deal when I purchased the car

[Bild: 2013-02-19%2013.59.05.jpg?img=small]

Then i took the back bumper of and gave it some love with stickerbombing

[Bild: 2013-03-01%2000.11.39.jpg?img=small]

Unfortunately the car was not sitting as low as wanted in the front so needed to do something illegal (at least here in Finland)

[Bild: 2013-03-01%2020.36.21.jpg?img=small]

Better! Smile

Here is the hole in the sill which my friend welded for me

[Bild: 2013-03-06%2018.28.56.jpg?img=small]

Then decided to make some room for the rims

[Bild: 2013-03-08%2011.19.10.jpg?img=small]

I also bought facelift front bumper and headlights from my friend. The bumper came with Clio II splitter which was an awesome surprise!

Taking ugly tuning away from the headlights

After:

So here it is how it looks today Smile

I like this forum a lot but unfortunately because of my bad German skills I cant find answers to couple of questions and I hope you could help me out:

I really need to change the seats to sit lower in the car. Is there any seats that fit straight away? Like maybe Clio 16S or Renault 19S seats?

Also I want to ask about the original speakrs. I noticed that I need to remove the whole dash Rolling Eyes to get to them but what size are they? Can I fit something aftermarket easily there?

Thaks in advance! And PLEASE if you have any questions, let me know and I'm more than happy to answer you. About the car, Finland or anything! Smile

Kind regards,

Erkki from Finland

Regarding lower seats:

Acutually i use Clio B RS seats. But those are i bit higher.

Before that i had Twingo seats from a 2004 model. Those have a "trigger" for manual adjusting the height. On the lowest point, the were lower than my original seats (1999) and i could sit relaxed without taking care of my head^^ (187cm)

Looks awesome! And all for less than 1400€? Amazing =O ...

But, is it just me or is the rear of the car still lower than the front? (space between tire and fender) ...
Cutting springs is also illegal in Germany =D even though i'm also thinking of doin' it .. or getting new coilovers. Thats the only "bad" thing about the TA; Front doesn't go low enough Sad ...

About the seats: Not shure about which clio model exactly it was ... guess it was the clio b seat that fit ... just needs so kind of customize the "rails"(don't know the correct word =D) .. However, I don't know if you get a lower seatposition with them...

Oh, sry, forgot to say:
Wellcome to the forum, and yes, english is okay =)

Great hint, thank you very much! I need to find these then, unfortunately Twingos here are really rare so might be a struggle to find them... Smile

The milky frost thing was my friends idea when I drove my car to the car show... Took them away though: They look great but I like to see out from my car! Very Happy

I would be more than interested on your seats, might be a bit expensive to ship though... Is there any way for you to find out how much could it be? Smile

Yeah, I never thought that I would do that to a car but I also had no idea that with coilovers this would be the lowest you can put it:

[Bild: 0-2013-02-26%2011.01.13.jpg?img=small]

Would have looked awful! Very Happy And unless you cut the springs you have to bring the top higher which is not possible with the Twingo unfortunately.
